Updating system software


You can update your system with the latest software and map data. To update your system, you must install the Navigation Updater program on your PC and download the latest data by using the SD card provided with your system.
Caution
  • Depending on the total data amount, update may take several minutes.
  • Do not turn off the system or remove the storage device while the update is in progress. If the power supply is cut off or the storage device is removed from the system, it may damage the data or cause a system malfunction.
Note
  • You cannot use the USB storage device for updates.
  • When the update is complete, the system will automatically reboot and the software version information will be updated.
  • During updates, you cannot use the navigation, UVO, camera, or other infotainment system functions.
  • If you need help updating your system, contact the Customer Center (800-633-5151).
  • Any changes made after the update file is created are not reflected in the map. As a result, certain roads, buildings, and speed limits on the map may not be up-to-date.
  • It is recommended to keep the map data up-to-date for accurate and fast guidance.

Installing Navigation Updater

Download and install Navigation Updater. > See the Navigation Update website.

  • Map updates are guaranteed for up to eight years after your vehicle purchase and subject to expiration afterwards.

Updating system software and map data

  1. Stop the engine to turn off the system.
Caution
Make sure to stop the engine first. Removing the SD card while the system is operating may cause an error or damage the SD card or the system.
  1. Open the SD card slot, and push and pull the SD card to remove it.

  1. Insert the SD card into your PC′s SD card port.
  1. The screen allowing you to download the update files of your vehicle will appear automatically.
  1. Download the update files by following the on-screen instructions.
  1. Remove the SD card from your PC, and insert it in to the SD card slot of the system.
  1. Start the engine to turn on the system.
Note
Even when the key ignition switch is placed in the ″ON″ position, you can turn on the system and start an update.
Caution
  • To update your system with the key ignition switch in the ″ON″ position, ensure that the battery level of your vehicle is sufficient. If the battery is completely discharged during an update, the update will be interrupted and it may cause a system malfunction.
  • During the wintertime, due to low temperatures the battery discharges more quickly.
  • If you did not drive the vehicle for a long period, the battery will discharge more rapidly.
  • If you start the engine with the key ignition switch in the ″ON″ position while the update is in progress, the power supply may be cut off.
  1. On the All Menus screen, press Setup > General > SW Info/Update.
Note
When a pop-up window appears and asks you to start an update, press Yes. You will then go to a new screen to select how to proceed with the update.

Updating immediately (if equipped)

You can complete updating the system as soon as possible.
  1. On the SW Info/Update screen, press Update.
  1. Press Update Now.
  1. Press OK.
  1. The system will reboot and start the update.

Scheduling updates (if equipped)

You can schedule the system to update automatically when your vehicle is not in operation.
  1. On the SW Info/Update screen, press Update.
  1. Press Scheduled Update.
  1. Set a timer for the scheduled update and press OK.
  1. When scheduling an update is complete, the scheduled update icon appears at the top of the screen.
Note
You can set the update to start within a maximum of 12 hours after the engine has stopped.
  1. Stop the engine (ACC Off).
Note
  • Before you stop the engine after scheduling an update, ensure that the SD card with the update files is connected to your system.
  • If you have set the timer to ″0,″ the update notification pop-up window will appear and the update will start after a while.
  • To close the notification pop-up window and start the update, press Yes.
  • To cancel the update, press No.
  • Once the update begins, you cannot cancel it. When updating the system is complete, the system will turn off automatically.
  • When you start the engine later, the update completion notification message will appear to confirm the update. You can see the updated version information from the SW Info/Update screen.
  • If you turn on the system during an update, the update progress will appear.
  • A scheduled update will be canceled in the following situations:
  • If your vehicle′s battery level is too low when you stop the engine
  • When the SD card with the update files is removed from your system
  • When you start the engine before the scheduled time
  • When three minutes have passed after the system turns on with the engine stopped
