What are Android Auto, MirrorLink and Apple CarPlay?

These features help you to use your smartphone safely and easily while driving. You can use various smartphone functions on the multimedia system screen. (GPS navigation, phone, music, etc.)

When you connect to Android Auto, MirrorLink or Apple CarPlay, the Android Auto, MirrorLink or Apple CarPlay page is displayed on the screen. Supported functions and operation methods may vary by model.

• Android Auto is a registered trademark of Google Inc.
• Apple CarPlay is a registered trademark of Apple Inc.
• MirrorLink is a registered trademark of Car Connectivity Consortium LLC.
• It is recommended to use the latest OS to use Android Auto, MirrorLink or Apple CarPlay. Earlier versions may not be able to recognize the features or cause your phone to malfunction.
• If your phone's battery is low, it may not be able to recognize these features. Please use it after charging.
• If your mobile phone is down due to a device defect, reboot the phone.
• Repeatedly inserting and removing a USB cable to/from the device within a short period of time may cause the mobile phone or device to malfunction.
• The recognition time of these features may differ depending on the types of mobile phone and firmware and the OS version.
• Please use a genuine cable, as using any other type of cable may cause noise or malfunction.
• If you operate your mobile phone while Android Auto, MirrorLink or Apple CarPlay is enabled, the feature may not work properly.
• You cannot use Android Auto, MirrorLink or Apple CarPlay during a Bluetooth call. However, if you start a Bluetooth call on an iPhone with Apple CarPlay enabled, it will switch to Apple CarPlay Call if an iPhone is also being used on the other end of the line.
• If your mobile phone has a problem, Android Auto, MirrorLink or Apple CarPlay may not work properly.
• A service fee may be charged for using Android Auto, MirrorLink or Apple CarPlay.

※ If your mobile phone has a problem, you may encounter the following problems.

• [Android Auto/MirrorLink]
• A black screen appears intermittently while you enter Android Auto or MirrorLink.
• The phone cannot determine whether or not it supports Android Auto or MirrorLink.
• Some parts on the screen turn black due to application errors.
• [Apple CarPlay]
• A black screen appears intermittently while you enter Apple CarPlay.
• A black screen appears when you switch screens in Apple CarPlay.
• Audio volume cannot be adjusted. This depends on the phone’s connection status.
• If you turn off Apple CarPlay while using Apple CarPlay call, the phone line will be interrupted.

If you cannot use the service properly due to a problem similar to those above, please inspect your phone first, reboot the phone, then open the application again.

Using Android Auto MirrorLink and AppleCarPlay

1. To use Apple CarPlay, connect a genuine Apple USB cable into the USB port. To use Android Auto or MirrorLink, connect a standard USB cable into the USB port.
2. On the Home screen or Main Menu screen, select [Android Auto], [MirrorLink] or [Apple CarPlay].

3. Android Auto, MirrorLink and Apple CarPlay provide features such as GPS navigation, music playback and phone call.

Before connecting your mobile phone, make sure that the connection setting for Android Auto, MirrorLink or Apple CarPlay is enabled in [Phone Projection Settings]. Connect your mobile phone and unlock it to use Android Auto, MirrorLink or Apple CarPlay. You may need to agree to using Android Auto, MirrorLink, or Apple CarPlay, depending on the mobile phone type. The displayed screens and features of the multimedia system are subject to change according to company policies.

• Once you have connected your phone to Android Auto, Bluetooth Audio Mode becomes unavailable. To use Bluetooth Audio Mode, disconnect the USB cable.
• Android Auto does not support file search using the [FILE/TUNE] button.
• If Android Auto does not work properly after successful connection, do the following.
• Check if there is any error in your mobile phone's application settings.
• Check if Android Auto is running on your mobile.
• Check if the Android Auto field is checked in [Phone Projection Settings].
• If Android Auto does not work properly even after disconnecting and reconnecting it, please refer to the Android Auto website. (https://www.android.com/auto/)
• If your mobile phone is not connected to the internet, Android Auto may not work properly.
• Refer to the below website for the countries where Android Auto is supported. (https://www.android.com/auto/)
• Please check the countries that support Android Auto before downloading and using the application.
• When you use these features, mobile phone pages are displayed on the multimedia screen. The pages and functions may change according to the policies of Google.

Reference - MirrorLink

• Once you have connected your phone to MirrorLink, Bluetooth Audio Mode becomes unavailable. To use Bluetooth Audio Mode, disconnect the USB cable.
• MirrorLink does not support file search using the [FILE/TUNE] button.
• If MirrorLink does not work properly after successful connection, do the following.
• Check if there is any error in your mobile phone's application settings.
• Check if MirrorLink is running on your mobile.
• Check if the MirrorLink field is checked in [Phone Projection Settings].
• If MirrorLink does not work properly even after disconnecting and reconnecting it, please refer to the MirrorLink website. (http://www.mirrorlink.com)
• On the MirrorLink screen, press the [Media] button to move to the MirrorLink application list screen.
• If your mobile phone is not connected to the internet, MirrorLink may not work properly.

Reference - Apple CarPlay

• Once you have connected your phone to Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth becomes unavailable. To Bluetooth, disconnect the USB cable before using.
• Apple CarPlay does not support file search using the [FILE/TUNE] button. To use the [KIA T map] feature, the KIA T Map application should be installed in your phone.
• If Apple CarPlay is not working properly after successful connection, do the following.
• Check if Apple CarPlay connection is blocked in the iPhone application settings
• Check if the Apple Carplay field is checked in [Phone Projection].
• If Apple CarPlay does not work properly even after disconnecting and reconnecting it, please refer to the Apple website. (http://www.apple.com/ios/carplay/)

KIA T Map

KIA T Map is the GPS navigator application you can use on the Kia Motors AVN display after connecting your smartphone to a Kia automobile via USB connection (MirrorLink).

1. Connect your mobile phone by using a standard USB cable.
2. Select [MirrorLink] on the Home screen or from the Main Menu.
3. Select [T map for KIA].

To use the [T map for KIA] feature, the KIA T Map application should be installed in your phone. You can download the KIA T Map application from Google Play Store or ONE Store. You can also see the list of smartphones that support KIA T Map on the KIA Red Members website (http://red.kia.com). For details on how to use Kia T Map, visit the T Map website (www.tmap.co.kr) and go to T Map for Car > Service Introduction > Kia Motors. The telephone number of KIA T Map Customer Center is 1600-5110.

Phone Projection Settings

Once you have connected a device that supports Android Auto, MirrorLink or Apple CarPlay, you can set whether to use the Android Auto, MirrorLink or Apple CarPlay feature.

1. On the device connection settings screen, press [Phone Projection Settings].

2. Check the box to use phone projection when connected via USB. (When connecting via USB, press [] to select a device to connect to among Android Auto and Mirror Link.

3. Select the function you want to connect.

You cannot change the device connection setting while a USB cable is connected.

Android Auto

• To use this feature, make sure that the “Use phone projection when there is USB connection” option is checked in the phone projection settings and “Android Auto” is selected in the Android device USB connection settings (which you can access by tapping on the toothed wheel icon).
• Also, you should have the latest version Android installed on your the mobile phone.
• While Android Auto is running, some of the multimedia system functions cannot be used.

MirrorLink:

• To use this feature, make sure that the “Use phone projection when there is USB connection” option is checked in the phone projection settings and “MirrorLink” is selected in the Android device USB connection settings (which you can access by tapping on the toothed wheel icon).
• Also, you should have the latest version Android installed on your the mobile phone.
• While MirrorLink is running, some of the multimedia system functions cannot be used.

Apple CarPlay:

• To use this feature, make sure that the “Use phone projection when there is USB connection” option is checked in the phone projection settings.
• Also, the latest version iOS should be installed in your mobile phone.
• While Apple CarPlay is running, some of the multimedia system functions cannot be used.
