The UVO service enables you to use remote control, security features, vehicle management and guidance services free of charge for a certain period of time. For more information on the free use period, visit the UVO website at (http://uvo.kia.com).

To use the remote control service, the UVO application must be downloaded (apple app store, google play store or one store) and installed on the user's smartphone.

The interior temperature of vehicle can be set in advance from home or office. (Refer to UVO app for detailed usage.)

Service features

Using service

You can optimize the temperature in your car remotely. The air conditioner or heater operates by comparing the set temperature with the ambient temperature, and the remote air conditioning option allows front glass moisture (frost) removal and heating control. Remote engine start-up is performed for remote air conditioning, and the remote engine start-up time can be set from 2 to 10 minutes. (If you open the car door using the smart key and get into the vehicle after remotely starting the engine, the mode switches to the normal engine mode.)

After turning on the engine and air conditioning remotely, you can also turn the engine and air conditioner off remotely.

  • For safety, during driving or if it is determined that the driver is insider the vehicle (doors have not been locked by the smart key, the gear is not at P, etc.) remote engine on/off is disabled.
  • Please note that, in some areas, the ordinance of local government restricts places and duration of engine idling.
  • Be cautious that, if the engine was turned off while the wiper was operating, the wiper may turn on when you start the engine remotely.
  • Depending on the climate conditions and the location of vehicle, the values set via the remote control and the actual conditions of the vehicle may differ.
  • This service is provided only for 96 hours after the engine turned off. The service may be limited in a shadow zone.

Remote door lock/unlock

Have you ever returned to the parking lot because you could not remember if you have locked the car doors after parking your car? Now, you can lock the doors by pressing the door lock on the smartphone no matter how far you are from your car. (Refer to UVO app for detailed usage.)

  • If no door is opened within 30 seconds after remote door unlock, the doors are automatically locked again.
  • Since there is a risk of theft, please use the remote door unlock feature only in safe places.
  • Remote door lock/unlock does not open or close the doors but only locks or unlocks them.
  • When a door is opened, Remote Door Lock is not available.
  • This service is provided only for 96 hours after the engine turned off. The service may be limited in a shadow zone.

Parking location finder

If you have forgotten the parking spot in the parking lot of a hotel or mart, you can find the spot more easily with the aid of flashing emergency light and the horn sound or using the map, regardless how far away you are from the car. (Refer to UVO app for detailed usage.)

  • To stop the horn sound (27 seconds), lock and unlock the doors once using the smart key.
  • Please use the service only when the vehicle is parked. This will not work when requested for a vehicle in motion. (except for theft tracking, engine startup restriction)
  • This service is provided only for 96 hours after the engine turned off. The service may be limited in a shadow zone.

Check vehicle condition

Want to check your vehicle’s condition? Convenient check is available through the UVO application. (Refer to UVO app for detailed usage.)

Service features

You can check the engine/air conditioning status, door lock status, door open (front/back/left/right) status, trunk open status and driving distance.

Using service

Available by using check vehicle condition in the vehicle control menu in the UVO application.

,Reference

  • The set temperature is specified only during air conditioning on.
  • The frost removal/heating/tire pressure alarm/fuel warning indicator icons will only be displayed if the corresponding function is switched on.
  • This service is provided only for 96 hours after the engine turned off. The service may be limited in a shadow zone.

Send destination

No need to take a memo to go to a restaurant found on the map. This service sends the location identified on the smartphone map to the vehicle’s navigation and sets it as the destination. (Refer to UVO app for detailed usage.)

Service features

This feature sends a location identified by the UVO application to the customer's vehicle- a convenient feature for customers who frequently search for things on their smartphones.

,Reference

When sending a destination using the UVO application, enabling the smartphone location service (GPS, etc.) to identify your location produces more accurate search results.

When my location is identified

  • Accuracy order: Shows the search results closest to the keyword based on the current location (max 30 results).
  • Distance order: Shows the search results only within 5km from the current location.

When my location is not identified

  • Accuracy order: Shows 30 search results closest to the keyword based on the map.
  • Distance order: Shows the search results within 5km on the map.

Security

Automatic air bag notification

Feel safe even in an unexpected accident. When the air bag deploys in a traffic accident, an airbag deploy signal is automatically sent to the emergency rescue center so that you can receive the emergency rescue and accident processing service.

Using service

When the airbag deploys, the accident is automatically reported to the UVO emergency rescue center, and a phone call is made to the customer’s vehicle so that the operator can check the accident situation and request a dispatch by 119 and insurance company.

,Reference

  • The service cannot be provided if the terminal device is not normally operating due to reasons related to modification, installation, damage or poor maintenance.
  • The service is not provided in accidents where the airbag does not deploy including the following cases.
  • Rear collision or side collision of a vehicle not equipped with side airbags.
  • Diagonal front or rear collision
  • Rollover and other reasons
  • If the power supply fails because the vehicle battery is damaged by excessive impacts form the accident, the service may not be properly provided.
  • If the vehicle is fitted with a separate external device such as a remote starter, it is possible that the airbag deployment signal is transmitted incorrectly without an accident.

SOS Emergency Dispatch

Feel safe with UVO even in any emergency situation during driving. Press the SOS button on the rear view mirror or use the UVO center ARS (1899-2121) to have the UVO center to work with 112/119, insurance company and other partners to provide help in the emergent situation.

Service description

The rescue service is provided when driving is impossible due to an accident or natural disaster. However, additional charge may occur according to the complexity or consumed time of the rescue service.

The emergency towing service is provided when driving is not possible in the event of failure, accident or battery drain. The service is free up to 10km from the towing spot. Additional charge occurs when the traveled distance exceeds this amount.

Up to 3L of petroleum or diesel is provided for free when driving is impossible due to fuel run-out. However, for LPG vehicles, the emergency fuel service is not possible so the emergency towing service is provided instead.

When driving the vehicle is impossible due to battery drain, the free battery charging service is provided. The cost of battery replacement requested by the customer must be borne by the customer.

The unlocking service is provided free of charge if the vehicle's key is lost or locked inside the vehicle. (but not the lock on the trunk)

If driving is impossible due to a flat or damaged tire, the service is provided to replace the tire with the spare one stored in the vehicle. However, the cost of tire replacement requested by the customer must be borne by the customer. If there is no spare tire in the vehicle or two or more tires are damaged, on-site replacement is impossible, and the emergency towing service is provided.

If driving is impossible, available emergency services are provided on the site free of charge. However, any cost occurring from maintenance or replacement of parts must be borne by the customer.

,Reference

  • Services are unavailable for vehicles not registered in the UVO. (example: other vehicles owned by the customer registered in the UVO, vehicles owned by family members, etc.)
  • In areas where on-site dispatch is not possible according to the related laws, the emergency towing service is provided for safety of the customer. (example: highway, vehicles-only roads, bridge, etc.)
  • Towing, door unlock and tire change are provided by the customer’s insurance company or “Hyundai Hi-car Damage Assessment,” which is a partner of UVO, as desired by the customer.
  • In case of other matters including warranty repair, the KIA emergency dispatch service is provided. In this case, the warranty clauses and agreements for the customer’s vehicle apply.
  • For better service, please notify to the UVO Center (1899-2121) any change of license number, contact information of the insurance company or emergency contact.

Theft tracking

This service is to find a stolen vehicle of the customer rapidly through working with the police in identifying the vehicle location.

Service features

In case of a vehicle theft, the UVO emergency rescue center provides the current location and driving route of the stolen vehicle to the police in real time for effective and expeditious tracking of the vehicle.

Using service

Call the UVO center (1899-2121) and select theft tracking service following the ARS guidance to connect to a counselor. After customer identification and report to the police, theft tracking is initiated.

To prevent infringement of the customer privacy and abuse of the service, the theft tracking service is not provided for any case that is not reported to the police.

  • To protect personal information and the location information, the service is provided only when the police requests.
  • The service is provided only for registered UVO members. Therefore, a certain identification procedure is performed.

Theft alert

When the vehicle’s theft alarm goes off, the alarm is automatically detected and a SMS is sent to the customer’s mobile phone.

Service features

If the vehicle’s theft alarm is activated, an SMS message is sent to the customer’ registered mobile phone number to prevent theft or towing.

Using service

When the vehicle’s theft alarm is activated, the signal is automatically transmitted to the UVO emergency rescue center. When the signal is automatically received, an SMS message notifying of the theft alarm is automatically transmitted to the customer’s mobile phone.

  • The theft alarm notification service is provided only when the theft alarm of the vehicle goes off.
  • This service is not provided for vehicles not equipped with the theft alarm system.
  • Vehicle theft alarm refers to the flashing emergency lights and alarm sound activated when an attempt is made to manually open a door, engine hood or trunk that has previously been locked using the smart key (or remote key).
  • For some vehicles, the theft alarm system can be enabled or disabled by using a regular key (or spare key).
  • If the door was locked by a key other than the smart key, vehicle theft alarm cannot be activated.

Vehicle care

Monthly UVO report

This feature takes care of the vehicle and sends report emails automatically. This is a service that regularly checks the conditions of the customer's vehicle and sends the results via email.

  • The regular inspection date is automatically set seven days after the vehicle contract date.
  • You can change the regular inspection date on the Red Members page provided in the monthly report.
  • Suspected faults may be automatically cleared depending on the driving situation of the vehicle, and there may be differences between the diagnosis details and the actual vehicle conditions if checks have been completed at a service station.
  • For instructions on how to set UVO service on your device, see the UVO setup part“UVO settings” .
  • You can also check the information on the Red Members website and UVO application.
  • You can change the monthly report receipt email on the website.

Using website

Vehicle diagnostics

According to the vehicle diagnosis details sent to the UVO center, a care service plan is provided for safety of the customer and protection of the vehicle.

Service features

When the dashboard shows an inspection alert, you can select the vehicle diagnostics option to receive the diagnosis details from a counselor and services such as towing, directional guide to a service station and service scheduling.

  • Vehicle diagnostics is part of the engine transmission system and is related to safety of the vehicle. It can detect failures only when the system alert light on the dashboard is turned on.
  • If the alert light does not come on during a vehicle failure, press the SOS key on the device to request a service to a counselor such as directional guide to a service station or towing.
  • The diagnosis details are only the initial inspection results based on vehicle signals, and for more detailed diagnosis, visit a Kia Motor Service Center or a partner service station.

Navigation guidance

UVO Navigation

UVO navigation guidance immediately reflects changing traffic conditions to guide you to the destination fast and safely.

Service features

,Reference

  • Road information (such as road creation or removal, turning directions, and change of traffic regulations) provided to the user may differ from the actual road conditions, so drive safely according to the traffic regulations.
  • Estimated arrival time and estimated driving time are calculated reflecting the road and traffic conditions at the time of route search. For this reason, the estimation and the actual driving result may differ depending on changes in the road and traffic conditions.
  • Guidance on new roads may differ according to the time of update.
  • Kakao Search provides search results in collaboration with Kakao. Please note that the search results are provided based on whether the Kakao Search database is available.

Server-based voice recognition

Server-based voice recognition provides a better quality voice recognition, so you can set your destination more quickly and easily.

  • Server-based voice recognition is provided in collaboration with Kakao.

  1. Select [i] on the steering wheel remote control and say "navigation guidance + destination name.”.

This is a service that allows you to quickly and easily share your vehicle's location with another person.

You can share your vehicle's current location, destination, remaining distance, remaining driving time, etc. with the selected person.

  • You have to agree to providing personal information to a third party to use this feature.
  • The vehicle location will be shared for about 60 minutes.
  • If the vehicle engine is turned off, location sharing will automatically end.
  • The location/remaining time/distance may not be accurate due to the network conditions or other reasons.

Change/Cancellation

You can change/cancel the service at any time by using the UVO Center. (Changeable items: customer information, payment information, additional services, etc.)

Change request

You can make requests for various changes while using the service through the UVO Center (1899-2121).

,Reference

  • Documents may be requested during the procedure for changes or personal identification.
  • If the contract party or vehicle owner is changed due to reasons such as ownership transfer of a used vehicle, the contract should be terminated, and new registration should be made under the name of the new owner.
  • In such a case, the free of charge basic services offered for a certain period of time do not apply.
  • The working hours of the UVO Center for the change/cancellation process are 09:00-18:00 on business days. (Closed on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays)

Cancellation request

Talk to a counselor at the UVO Center (1899-2121) > Fill out a cancellation request form > Cancel registration.

,Reference

The UVO service registration must be canceled in cases of used car sale, ownership transfer and returning of a leased/rented vehicle. If you do not request cancellation, the related fees will continue to be charged.
