Precautions for Safe Driving

Cautions upon Connecting Bluetooth Phone

Pairing and connecting bluetooth device (mobile phone) to head unit

To use the Bluetooth feature, make sure the Bluetooth on your phone is turned on. Refer to your phone’s user guide.

When no phones have been paired

  1. Press the [6936.png] button on the steering wheel remote control or press [All menus] > [Phone] on the screen.

  1. Search for the vehicle name in your Bluetooth device and confirm pairing.
    (The initial vehicle name is displayed like Kia.)

  1. If the SSP (Secure Simple Pairing) is not supported, input the passkey on your Bluetooth device. (The default passkey is 0000.)

  1. The message that requests for the contacts and the call record of the Bluetooth device opens.

,Note

  • The initial vehicle name is registered as Kia with the initial certification no. of '0000'.
  • Depending on the Bluetooth device, the certification no. may or may not be entered.
  • Depending on the Bluetooth device or Android, iOS phone, the message may appear differently. For iOS phones, select [Settings] > [Bluetooth] > [i] (Right button on the connected vehicle) > [Show Notifications] (Set it to on.).
  • If SSP (Secure Simple Pairing) is not supported, Authorize the registration after entering the certification no. (PIN code) on the Bluetooth device.
  1. When the connection is completed, the recent call screen is displayed on the screen. When the connection fails, a failure message is displayed on the screen.

When phone is already paired

If the mobile phone you want to connect to the head unit is already paired to it, you can use the [SETUP] button to make connection.

  1. press [SETUP] > [Phone Connections] > [Phone Connections] > [Add new].

  1. Search for the vehicle name in your Bluetooth device and confirm pairing. (The default vehicle name is Kia.)

,Note

  • For safety reasons, pairing a Bluetooth phone is not possible when the vehicle is in motion. Park the vehicle in a safe location to pair a Bluetooth phone. It is possible to pair up to 5 mobile phones. In order to pair a new phone when there are already 5 mobile phones paired, you must first delete one of the previously paired phones.
  • Some functions may not be supported due to limited Bluetooth compatibility between the car system and mobile phone.
  • When a Bluetooth device is connected, a new device cannot be paired. If you want to pair a new phone, first disconnect the connected Bluetooth device.

Change connection

If you want to disconnect the connected device and connect another device, You can change device as follows.

  1. On the [Phone] screen, press [5792.png] or press [6921.png] > [Change connection].

  1. Press a device name to change the device connection.

,Note

  • If two bluetooth devices are registered and one of them is connected, pressing the button will disconnect the connected device and try to connect to the other device.
  • If there are 3 or more registered devices, the device list list pops up and user selection is possible.

Privacy mode

Privacy mode is used to protect private information. If you activate Privacy Mode, the system will not display Contacts, Call History, Favorites, and Messages.

On the [Phone] screen, press [11107.png] > [Privacy mode].

Disconnecting the connected phone

  1. Press [SETUP] button and select [Phone Connections] > [Phone Connections].
  2. Press [Disconnect] on the device that is currently connected.

  1. Press [Yes].
  2. To connect the device again, press [Connect].

Deleting Bluetooth Devices

If you no longer need to use a phone, you can delete the Bluetooth devices. Note that deleting a Bluetooth device will delete all call history and contact entries.

  1. Press [SETUP] button and select [Phone Connections] > [Phone Connections].

  1. Press [Delete Devices].
  2. Select a device to delete and press [Delete] > [Yes].

Deleting a device also deletes its recent calls list, contacts and text messages list saved in the head unit.
